On A Mission

Motivation

My motivation for doing research, teaching courses and writing my books is best explained by Confucius. Confucius wrote in his Analects, Book 7, line 7.8: "Only someone bursting with eagerness do I instruct; only someone bubbling with excitement do I enlighten. If I hold up a corner and a man cannot come back to me with the other three, I will not continue the lesson."

Dr. Tan was my "Confucius" for acupuncture. He held up a corner by teaching his course. I hope to return with the other three corners by writing three books.

The balance method is a wonderful foundation for further growth.
I believe that everyone has something valuable to share. As a result, our field of expertise is growing. On this website you will find my contribution.

My Story

I have been an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist for over 21 years. My background is in computer science and artificial intelligence. I worked for many years as a consultant and trainer in software engineering. My Chinese wife invited me to study Chinese medicine. From the first day I was sold. And to my surprise, Chinese medicine was not fuzzy at all. I could still use models and structures from software engineering to understand relationships.

The first 10+ years as an acupuncturist I never had results that were amazing or even that I knew were responsible for the improvement. I lost my focus and interest in acupuncture and decided that I would continue with Chinese Herbal Medicine only. I told my wife: “What I really wanted was to help more people in an effective way with immediate and measurable results. I wanted to be happy and confident with my job.”

By chance, I attended a workshop of Dr. R. Tan who taught his Balance Method and it changed my life. Then I made a decision: from now on I will practice only Balance Method Acupuncture. That was 10 years ago.
The day after the course, patients with pain started calling and it never stopped.
Balance Method Acupuncture significantly changed my life and that of my patients!

Dr. Tan's untimely death 2015 was the reason I started teaching the Effective Treatment of Pain with Acupuncture course in 2016. I wanted to share my experience so that more acupuncturists could learn this effective method and help more patients.
This journey resulted in 12 course modules, two books, 21 webinars, 6 online mini courses, a forum, a masterclass and becoming the owner of the largest Balance Method Acupuncture clinic in the Netherlands.

Now I expanded the method and have amazing results which I would like to share with you.
